We got invited to visit London Youth recently to meet with themselves and their partners, who make up Talent Match London. The aim of this was to share best practice and allow our four Outreach Workers to discover how TM London carry out their outreach.
Let’s recap the day –
We began by meeting the team at London Youth who support and keep track of the Programme delivery. They greeted us with a selection of pastries and drinks which was much appreciated after a very early start for us all.

We began by meeting the team at London Youth who support and keep track of the Programme delivery. They greeted us with a selection of pastries and drinks which was much appreciated after a very early start for us all.
It was great to hear about their Youth Leadership and find out how Young People could get directly involved with the delivery of Talent Match.
We then ventured over to Collage Arts in Wood Green, who very much like our Central Hub provides support through the Expressive Arts. The team here were passionate about enhancing skills and confidence for work via creative mediums, which included a 5D Multi-Sensory Cinematic Experience, Social Media Marketing skills and various other workshops.
We saw some great art work on the walls showcasing the level of creativity that goes on within the building -
After grabbing some lunch, we made our way to Hackney CVS.
Here we met with the Talent Scouts who carry out youth led outreach. They play a very similar role to our Outreach Workers, who aim to engage with the hardest to reach within the Community. This meeting in particular was very inspiring for us all. It was fascinating to hear about how they get together Employers and Young People.
It was interesting to discuss how, in both the Black Country and London, there are similarities with the Young People we engage with. We also discussed the differences between what types of jobs are offered in our areas, what our young people want to do and how hard/easy it can be to reach these goals.
Overall, it was very clear that whilst in different parts of the country, both Talent Match’s are keen to help Young People aspire for more than the lifestyle they find themselves currently leading.
After a long but informative day, we headed back to Euston to catch our train home.
It was fantastic to meet everyone and have insight into another TM programme. We hope to invite other Talent Match’s to visit us in the future and show them what we do here in the Black Country. So watch this space!
