KicFM might be for you!
KicFM is a Wolverhampton based Creative Media Project that has been running for many years supporting young people across the Black Country. The aim of this project is to build your confidence, communication skills, inspire/motivate you and improve your skills for future work in a fun environment.
They offer you the chance to work with industry professionals to improve your knowledge and skills. You can access this opportunity as an individual or in a group. You will do 10 sessions for four hours at a time and will receive an initial introduction that will help you relax and get to know the team.
The Radio/Music based programme allows you to record a short Radio Programme which would involve the following-
• Producing Music
• Editorial work
• Presenting
• Interviewing
• Editing
• Research
• Planning
Alongside this you will receive some DJ training where you can learn techniques and how to make beats. You will also have the opportunity to produce short Podcasts that could include music or the spoken word. You will develop research, scripting, presenting and editing skills.
You will also get the chance to produce a short audio CV so you can summarise your key skills, interests and experiences. This is a really creative and interesting way to ‘sell’ yourself to a potential employer.
Another part of the programme is KicTV.
Here you can create a short film or animation that can be uploaded to the KicFM YouTube -

As well as this an interactive CV can be made but in a video format.
Whilst there are already lots of other Creative Media opportunities for you to take part in, Kic have a variety of other interactive software for you to use. This includes a graffiti whiteboard that you will see in the included photo. The whiteboard allows you to share your thoughts and feelings in a creative way as you can use interactive graffiti spray cans to write on it! As well as this they have an audio booth which is great for recording your views in various ways.
If you get involved with these activities, you will also be able to consider volunteer opportunities. This will allow you to continue with your developments, stay engaged and monitor your progress.
